| Artist Mauricio Ortiz is photographed and interviewed about his winning design for the eight of clubs card in the SHELTER 'House of Cards' campaign. An exhibition of the deck of 53 playing cards - all designed by leading artists - is being hosted by the prestigious London 'Haunch of Venison' gallery. The launch party on Thursday 24th September 2009 was a star-studded event attracting heavy press coverage and wall-to-wall celebrities, artists and collectors. All proceeds from the auction of the unique and specially commissioned creations (to be held at the Haunch of Venison on Monday 28th September 2009) will go to homelessness and housing charity SHELTER. Mauricio Ortiz beat off stiff competition from hundreds of entries with his inspired interpretation of the eight of clubs, and his work now hangs comfortably side by side with the likes of Vivienne Westwood, Damien Hirst, Alexander McQueen, Rachel Whiteread, Jake and Dinos Chapman and Rankin. A strictly limited edition of 1000 packs of A5 art cards featuring all 53 designs contained in a smart slip case is already approaching sell-out status and raising further funds for the worthy cause. At just £70 a set, this is a piece of affordable art magic not to be missed. To coincide with the high profile exhibition and subsequent surge of media interest in the story and work of London-based artist Ortiz, a brand new set of six limited edition art prints featuring other fantastic Darwin-inspired images from Ortiz's 'Animalia' series have been published and launched by online gallery eyestorm.com visit their website for details... |
